Nestled in a hilly landscape in a central position with respect to the Prosecco hills of Conegliano Valdobbiadene there is Refrontolo: a cradle where the best grapes are born and ripen. It is located south of the Dolomites and north of Venice.

The environmental and morphological conditions of the territory have always created the ideal habitat for the cultivation of the vine. This is the land of the much loved Prosecco Superiore di Conegliano and Valdobbiadene DOCG, a fine wine, known and requested all over the world.

These are also the lands of the Colli di Conegliano DOCG, a fine red wine.

The area of ​​Conegliano Valdobbiadene extends over a hilly area located 50 km from Venice and about 100 from the Dolomites. The viticulture here has ancient origins, the first written mention linking Prosecco to this territory dates back to 1772. The production area is limited to 15 municipalities. It is named after two of these: Conegliano Valdobbiadene. The area of ​​the DOCG is an environment dedicated to the cultivation of the vine, it extends between the hills of Conegliano Valdobbiadene, here the lands are steep, the viticulture is defined “heroic” precisely because the very pronounced slopes make it difficult to work in the field.

The panorama is formed by an infinite network of vineyards exposed on steep slopes alternating with gentle slopes. The unpublished glimpses of small inhabited villages create a unique and suggestive scenario. These lands smell of wine and authentic flavors, the centuries-old wine tradition has deeply drawn the landscape and the soul of one of the most enchanting areas of Italy. The people here are tied to their roots, hospitality is at home and the food and wine culture is deeply felt.

A territory rich in charm, suggestions, historical and artistic attractions. It is pleasant to dive in the valleys or among the many villages scattered here and there, and the best way to do this is to follow the Prosecco and Vini dei Colli di Conegliano Valdobbiadene road. This process offers a breathtaking scenery and is a useful guide for wine tourists. The road passes through the entire production area of ​​Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG and the Colli di Conegliano Controlled Designation of Origin.

Along the way, there are numerous wineries, trattorias, restaurants where it is possible to taste local wines and taste the delicacies of the local food and wine.

In 2008, a project was launched for the recognition of the Hills of Conegliano Valdobbiadene in Unesco Heritage. In 2010 the formal Cadidatura process began, then formalized in 2017. Finally in 2019, after receiving the proclamation, the site was registered with the World Heritage List.

The wonderful landscape embroidered by the vineyards, the cultural riches that belong to these hills and the great promotional team work have meant that today, the Hills of Prosecco are a World Heritage Site.
